  1. The new issue looks and sounds great from this preview. I want to learn more about Ben Franklin’s life as a printer, then a publisher. He’s always been my favorite Founding Father, and by far the most fascinating. The story behind ‘The National Dog Show’, of course! It’s one of the few occasions of something actually worthwhile watching on NBC.

In a fun coincidence of sorts, there was a ‘Doggie Halloween Costume Party’ at the Tonga Hut Tiki Lounge in North Hollywood last Sunday that was a total blast. There were about 15 dogs in total. My 5 favorites included 3 basset hound brothers decked-out in retro style shirts and hats, and mother and daughter Boston terriers.

I couldn’t tell which one was which at first, but was told. A few minutes later I was REALLY told by the mother herself, watching them with a few other people. You see, both were given dog toys to enjoy, and the daughter decided she wanted the mother’s, and attempted to take hers. Mom wasn’t having any of that. She growled and swatted the daughter with her right paw. We were a little shocked (and amused), but everything was fine again, almost immediately.
